The Last Day of School

www.insidehighered.com
You can guess by the title of this post that today was my last day of school for the year! It feels so nice to be out of school and not have to drag myself out of bed at 6 every morning.

I still remember getting on the bus to school and being so nervous on that first day. I didn't know who I would talk to, who I would meet, what my teachers were like and now I'm missing my favorite teachers and best friends more than I thought I would.

Out of all my years of school, freshman year has been the hardest so far. Not only was I stressed half the time but I've been so distracted from my work and so lazy with my studying that I made it so much harder for myself. Track also played a huge role in my grade drop. I used to make all A's and B's and then I started losing focus with out-of-town meets and late practices. Soon I found myself pulling up my C's and D's. This semester I have one high C (77), which is a huge disappointment for me. I haven't finished with a C in years. But I also have A's in four of my classes (one of them is a 100), so I'm still happy.

Update- May 30, 2011: We can check our grades online on this thing called STI and it turns out I didn't finish with a C! My grade from Semester 1 pulled it up to a B (82). So in all I finished with four A's and 3 B's.

If it's taught me anything, it's that I need to stop procrastinating and being lazy and instead start working harder. I want to have a high GPA, I want to get amazing grades, and I want to finish high school with a scholarship.

I'm also so happy that I can get back to my regular posts and start having more fun with blogging! I've really missed the blogosphere and....

I survived Freshman year!

My Worst Self

credit: Getty images
My day was absolutely dreadful. It's not like the teachers slammed a lot of work at us, it's that I had to go to school after such a lovely Winter Break.

Waking up so early and having no time for breakfast really wears me out. Not to mention the eight hours of school and the annoying ride back from the bus.

Here's a regular school day for me (estimated times):

6:00 AM: (Alarm goes off) Drag myself out of bed.
6:05-6:25 AM: Wash my face, brush my teeth, take a shower.
6:25-6:35 AM: Apply lotion/other moisturizers, get dressed.
6:35-7:00 AM: Style hair, do makeup.
7:00-7:15 AM: Do a few last minute things.
7:15-7:25 AM: See if I can find something to eat in time, otherwise known as breakfast.
7:25 AM: Leave for bus stop.
7:30ish-8:05 AM: Bus picks me up, stop by other kid's stops, drive to school.
8:05 AM-3:28 PM: learning, walking around campus, eating horrible lunch, etc., A.K.A School.
3:28-3:50ish PM: Ride bus home, walk to house.
3:50-8:00 PM: Watch T.V., Eat, Enjoy my day.
8:00-10:00 PM: Do homework (if any).
10:00-11:00 PM: Enjoy my night, go to bed.
11:00 PM-6:00 AM:  Sleep.
6:00 AM: Start over.

5 days a week, every week.
This can get tiring. For everyone saying I should be grateful to even get an education, yes I know. I am.
But I'm still annoyed, frustrated and tired by school days and I think I always will be.

Anyway, I hope I didn't bore you too much. But now you know exactly what I do five days of my normal week.

New Years Resolutions

My third and final resolution:

Be more responsible and stop procrastinating.
I could be in the world record book for the biggest procrastinator.
Currently I have a huge 350 point (that's more points than my mid-term!) project due in about two weeks and I haven't even started the research. I keep telling myself "I'll start tomorrow", but then I say that the next day and forget about it.
If I want to do good in school, I need to take more time out of my day and focus on school work.

It's just a lot easier said than done.

Update on Track

trail-running-blog.com
Monday was our first day of conditioning. Half the people were missing since there are other sports like Football, Wrestling, Cheerleading, and Basketball that still have practice.
I also didn't have my physical form so I couldn't join practice. I couldn't go today either. But I will be going tomorrow. I really need to get in shape for tryouts and I need to get in shape for my PE exam. We have to run for 20 minutes to get 25 points towards our exam grade. Which is a lot. I'm definitely not excited for exams next week. I'm not excited for track either.

P.S. I saw Derek Monday at his basketball game...it's so weird seeing him again. Brings back feelings I really don't want to feel.

The Worst Feeling...

www.thedickinsonpress.com
Nervousness. I'm so nervous for track tomorrow. We have our first day of conditioning for the year. We have two weeks of conditioning and then we have Winter break for two weeks. Then it's back to one week of conditioning.
Soon after, it's try-outs.

Where I live, at my school, sports are very important to us. So they want the best of the best to be on each team. So of course (like most schools) there is a Varsity and Junior Varsity team for Track and Field. Tryouts determine which team and what event (Pole Vault, 4x100 relay, 200 Meter Sprint, etc...) is best for you.
Track is usually an open sport where anyone can join and events are chosen for you. But this year, in highschool, it's tryouts. It makes since though...
I don't want to get stuck on a bad team where everyone is really bad and I am better than them. (No cockiness intended.)

Regardless, our first day of conditioning is killing me. The day hasn't even started yet and I'm already dying of nerves! I just hope I can get along with everyone and do good at conditioning.

I'll keep you updated on all that happens. I have exams (mid terms) to study for and lots of homework to catch up on. So I won't post again until Tuesday.

58 Days and Counting...

Wow, has it really bean that long since I've been in school? Its gone by so quick! I guess that's what people mean when they look back on high school and wish it went by slower.
So nothing new since my last school update. I do have any projects due next week. I have a Family Tree Project due in French, I have a Desert Biome Project due on Monday and Friday, I have a project where we act out the Galileo trial. Fun right?
My crush on Keagan is gone. Sorry for getting you all excited. I think he's after another girl and I'm not about to fall into the same trap as I did with the Derek and Sabrina incident.
Anyway, I'm going trick or treating tonight so I will post again tomorrow!

43 Days and Counting...

It's been...

43 days of getting little sleep...
43 days of hard studying...
43 days of walking in the hot sun to catch the bus...
43 days of eating horrible lunch food...
43 days of freezing in the school classrooms...
43 days of waking up at 5:45 a.m. sharp...
43 days of this thing they call school.

Still, I am loving all my new friends, nice teachers and of course my new crush, Keagan*. He's on the football team, he's funny, he's cute, he's nice, his laugh is cute, and he has a great personality.

Even though I'm really enjoying my time with my friends, I hate the work. I have to do a "seminar", where I write an essay, make a power-point and teach the class about a prompt that my teacher has given me. It's a difficult task considering that I only have about a week to work on it. I am so worn out with all this work!

Lucky for me, in 1,326 days, I'll be graduating from high school.

"I feel pretty, oh so pretty!"

Today at school, I was talking to my best friend Sabrina, (aka, the best friend who made out with my crush), and she told me that one of her guy friends thinks I'm cute! How sweet is that? I love getting compliments from guys. I feel great about myself right now!
I'd also love to get to know this guy. He's not too bad looking himself!

Also, I want to let you in on a little update; today was my 17th day of school as a 9th grader. The first two days this week were horrible and long. But yesterday and today were amazing! I've had so much fun in all my classes and we just got a seating chart in math and I love it! Tomorrow we have our first pep-rally of the year. I'm hoping it'll be fun!

11 Days and Counting...

I'm always tired and worn out by the end of the day. Thanks to school! So far, I have been in school 11 days. Thankfully, this week is almost over. Ive already had two quizzes and a test. TEST!? Ugh, highschool is going to kill me by the end of the year!
I already met a alot of new people, I can see myself liking them. Guys? Yeah, pretty hot guys here. One of them, cant stop turning around to stare at me. No...I'm not full of myself. He's either looking at me or the wall...
Anyway, school is going way better than I expected. I hope my sophomore year goes this amazing.

Six Days and Counting...

Today was the sixth day of school for me. As you might know, six days ago was my first day of school. So far, I am loving high school! I love the non-strict rules, the new people, the nice teachers, and the laid back dress code. Sure it's not all perfect, I don't have friends in two of my classes. But hey! It's a good way to make friends right?
I've seen Derek a few times in the halls, but we haven't talked. Which is probably a good thing. I need to get over him. I see my two best friends Eva and Sabrina everyday, so I know I'll survive.
I just hope the rest of this year is drama free and all about education and friends.

New Beginnings

In about two weeks, I'll be riding a bus to school. Not only is it the "first day of school" but it is also the first day of being a freshman. Yes! I will be in highschool. It's a little scary, but at the same time...it's very exciting! Where I live there's a high school and a freshman center. Obviously I'll be going to the freshman campus.
Yesterday was my freshman registration. I felt so confident in my shoulder-length hair extensions and cute dress. I got to catch up with my friends and see my new school. I'm really happy because I have alot of friends in my classes. I don't know how you felt about going into your freshman year...but Im more excited than I am nervous. I have new hair, makeup, clothes, and most importantly I have new confidence.

To everyone who is going into a new school year...whether it's high school, elementary school, middle school, or college; it's not always easy, but in the end it always pays off. Because after my freshman year in highschool, I'll only have three years until I go to college and work on fulfilling my dream.
