Minty's Christmas Wishlist 2012

Long time no see. Looooong time no see. I have been gone for a while for various reasons.

Mostly laziness but also school. Junior year has definitely been the most hectic. SO. Much. Homework.

And it's every night! I wish teachers would realize that I actually have TWO blogs to keep up with, my social life, my family life, and track.

Anyway, I had to come back for the my annual Christmas Wishlist. I mean come on, did you really think I was going to miss it?

  1. Steve Madden Zerge Riding Boots. I don't think anyone knows how badly I want some riding boots. I am ripping my hair out trying to find the perfect pair and these are it!
  2. Fashion Lab Jane Studded Combat Boots. Hell yes! These boots are just plain old sexy. What else is there to say except I need these on my feet right now?
  3. Basic Essentials Metallic Pants. Dare I say? These are almost as sexy as the combat boots...
  4. Jordie Animal Print Ballet Flats. The black is currently out of stock but as soon as they come back I am hoping on these bad boys!
  5. Leaf Open Adjustable Ring in Gold by janesshopinetsy on Etsy. This Etsy shop has vanished (totally sketch...) but this gorgeous ring still made it on my list.
  6. Personalized Bracelet by Frosted Willow on Etsy. My name's not the most common (my real name, not Minty...come on guys) so this is a nice alternative. Initial bracelets? YES.
  7. Womens Nike Victoria Sneakers. I really like Nike. We have a love hate relationship actually. Love Nike's stuff, but hate their prices. Geez, don't they know I'm broke?
So that's basically everything that I want for Christmas but won't get for Christmas. I'll probably get a card, a hug, and a million "Merry Christmas" greetings. But I'll keep praying to the money Gods until then.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas Eve!

Twisted Triangle and The Boiling Point

Image: nuttakit/FreeDigitalPhotos.net
Long time no see, yes?

Well lucky for you I have a lot to talk about today.

So much, in fact, that I'm going to try to summarize as much as possible.

The thing I'm most wanting to talk about is my friend Sabrina. She recently started her own blog (not going to link it because I am an anonymous blogger and she has chosen to show her identity on her new blog) and on it she is going into a lot of detail about her life and her love life.

I know, I know. She's sixteen, what love life?

Well, a few months ago she was involved in a very complicated love triangle. A thirty year old guy she hooked up with (he's her parent's coworker), his ex-wife, his girlfriend, and her.

All the while they had been making out in his car, he was cheating on both her and his girlfriend.

On Sabrina's blog she is very open about this, first and last names are mentioned. Everything is described, nothing is left out.

I don't know how she does it but I could never open up my life to the public unless it was anonymous. That's like an open diary.

Another thing I wanted to mention was my mom. I always talk about how weight doesn't matter and people should not worry about other's weight unless they are unhealthy.

Image: Grant Cochrane/FreeDigitalPhotos.net
I am 5'3, 107 pounds and I am perfectly healthy according to my doctors.

She, on the other hand, seems to think it's okay to always tell me that I need to gain weight, eat more and stop being so skinny.

As if I purposely diet to be thin...

I'm obviously naturally thin, my parents (out of all people) have been calling me skinny since I was a little girl.

I don't miss meals, I snack, I eat all the time.

It's not her f*cking business to talk about my weight if I am at a healthy weight.

Yesterday, on the way back from a track meet we were talking about how I need to start eating healthier and not eat so much junk food.

And guess what she said?

"You also need to start eating more, you have no meat on your bones...look at you..."

And guess what I did?

Yell at her.

I was so mad. She has mentioned this several times before and every time she does I tell her that I don't like that she says that to me. Why will she not understand?

Just like she has taught me my whole life, yelling is the key to getting people to listen. She yells at us for every thing we do so I'm assuming it's okay for me to raise my voice at her too?

I told her I was offended that she would think I have some sort of eating disorder when I have been naturally thin my entire life and that I eat just like everyone else. I made sure she heard me when I said that the doctors have never told me I was unhealthy or too thin.

I may be a size zero but I am still a human being. I'm so tired of hearing "real women have curves." Does that make me fake? I must be a robot.

Well guess what bitches, real women have no curves too.

30 Day Challenge: Day 28

 Image: FreeDigitalPhotos.net / Ambro

Something you're worrying about.

I don't feel like I can openly talk about this yet so I'll just briefly let you know.

I'm going to see a therapist in a week and a half.

I'm really nervous, anxious, and scared.

I'm embarrassed and ashamed to even say the words...to admit I need help.

I haven't told anyone about this, only my sister, my mom and now you.

I have been feeling really bad this year and haven't been myself so I knew I had to sort out my feelings.

I hope I am just a little depressed and that I am not diagnosed with anything severe.

I'll let you know more once the day has come but right now I don't feel like I can say much.

The Place I Used to Call "Home"

http://www.coconutcreekrealestateagents.com
Today I passed by my old house, the one the creditors took from us.

It was actually really hard for me, I expected that I would just see it and that would be it, but it really hurt.

The new owners rented the house and they also remodeled it.

I'll be the first to admit that the remodeling looks nice, but they also changed the color of it, the front door, the mail box--almost everything on the outside

It's like they erased everything about it that I loved. I grew up there, for most of my childhood, and now none of that even matters.

Someone is living there now, and it's not me...it's just hard to believe.

I wish I could go over there and steal the house, then kill them.

I hate that we had to leave, and I hate that I have to live in this ugly, smelly, small, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, crammed, privacy-free townhouse in the most "ghetto" part of the neighborhood.

It just sucks.

I almost cried as I saw the house, seriously, I would do anything to have it back and live there again. ANYTHING.

Life is not the same anymore.

At first I was happy to leave the house, you know, not having to wake up everyday wondering if this was going to be the day that we were going to have to give up the house. But now...now I'm just sad about it. It's all gone.

You may think I'm just over reacting and that it's not "that big of a deal", but you're wrong. You'd never understand until it happens to you.

That house has so much history, so much of my life and now it's just gone and no one will even remember except for the people who lost part of their lives in that house.

2 Days and Counting...

I really thought I would hate high school.

I thought I would be lost at the school and not be able to find any of my classes  but that's not the case. I mean, some classes have been harder to find than others but knowing the room number really helps.

I'm actually having a lot of fun here. I was already in high school but it didn't really feel like it. Being at a freshman campus was not fun at all. Now I'm at "the big school" with the seniors and juniors and it's so exciting!

I feel like I'm growing up and maturing.

I've made a pact with myself this year that I was going to crawl out of my shell, be more confident and be more outgoing than last year, especially since last year I wasn't feeling very confident due to the dreadful Wisconsin trip.

So far, so good. I'm showing personality, I'm being more outgoing and I'm trying to have a little more fun while I can.

I really hope this year will be great!

P.S. Guess who I saw in the halls? Yup, I passed Sean several times in the hallway or going up the stairs. I even saw him in the courtyard just talking to his friends. He did not say one word to me, he didn't even look at me. But I know that he knew I was there. We were pretty close to each other since the halls were so full. It hurt my feelings to be honest, I guess I should have saw it coming. It's not like we're best friends or something.

Who, Me?

www.socialtext.net

Short post today.

Yesterday I went shopping, of course for nail polish, and at the store I was in, a man was with his son and what looked to be his girlfriend. She was going around looking for things to buy and I could hear him talking to his son and telling him to "go say something to that girl".

I was looking around, trying not to look obvious, and searching for whoever he was talking about.

He kept on saying to his son "she's cute, go on and say something."

It was a small store so there wasn't too many people around and it turns out, he was talking about me! By the time I figured that out I was already blushing and trying to hide my face.

His son never said anything to me, which is a good thing considering he looked way too young for me anyway (at least 12 years old). He seemed really shy, and although I thought it was adorable, I wasn't into him.

I was really flattered by it though.

I left that store with a smile on my face and a whole lot of confidence.

To be honest, I'm a veggie person. I like pretty much all vegetables but never will I enjoy a mushroom. The texture is too much on it's own, don't even get me started on the taste...

W: What makes you run late:
I'm usually always on time if it's up to me when I leave. But usually if I'm late, it is someone else's fault. I"m never late to ride the bus but when my mom has to drive me, we're almost always late.

X: X-ray's you've had:
I'm not sure if I've ever had an x-ray. Maybe when I was little and I just can't remember.

Y: Yummy food you make:
I don't like to brag, but I do make the best breakfast bowls. I'm not the best when it comes to cooking, but I'm telling you, my breakfast bowls are no joke! I add all types of sliced, fresh fruit, topped with syrup and then whip cream on top all in a bread bowl. The bread by the way is glazed with sugar and cinnamon. It's the best thing you could have for breakfast.

I can see whoever created this had limited options for words that began with Z. But yes, I have been to the zoo. I'm in love with the pretty flamingos!

Thoughts #11- Natural is Beautiful

www.healthybeautyproject.com
I now realize that I never told you about the day I went with zero makeup to school.

I know that lots of girls come to school with no makeup and some girls don't ever wear makeup at all. But me, no. I normally wear makeup every single day to school. Whether it's just a small amount of mascara or an entire eye look with eyeshadow, eye liner and mascara.

Well, I was reading Seventeen Magazine one Saturday afternoon and there was this small article where girls all around the nation took a challenge to wear no makeup for a day. One girl even said that it took her less time to get ready in the morning. Of course, knowing me and how long it takes me to get ready for school, I accepted the challenge!

I planned to do it on Monday since the weekend is over and we're back in school, but I forgot. Tuesday morning, on my first day of exams, I woke up and was prepared. I took my shower, got dressed, did my hair, and completely skipped out on the makeup. I saved a whole 10-15 minutes and instead spent it on eating a good breakfast.

Throughout my day at school, I felt so confident, so free, so...pretty. No one gave me weird looks, no one even mentioned the fact that I was makeup-less. They probably didn't notice or could care less. So the 15 minutes I spend on makeup everyday is a total waste. It made me realize that wearing a lot of makeup makes me feel fake and unattractive, when in reality, natural is the most beautiful. I can't even begin to explain how great I felt!

Of course I was scared. I was expecting that everyone would ask me why I looked so different, or what happened to me. I was also expecting that I'd feel awkward and uncomfortable and unattractive. But none of that happened. In fact, my experience was so good that I didn't really wear makeup for the rest of the week--and I loved every second of it.

The Best Days of My Life

socialmedia411blog.files.wordpress.com
As I mentioned in my last post, this past weekend was State Championships for track! It was held near the beach and was on Friday and Saturday. We left Thursday morning since the meet started really early on Friday and it took a good 6 hours to drive there.

I had a seriously amazing time on the trip. Everyone was just having a good time and enjoying our last couple of days together. Of course, I did talk to Sean. Not as much as I would of liked and definitely not as much as we talked in South Carolina, but we still had a few short conversations and it was nice. I love the feeling I get when I talk to him. Almost like nothing could go wrong and I'm in the best place in the world.

But Thursday, when we went to the beach, I barely even saw him. He was practically avoiding me. When I went to swim in the ocean he left to play volleyball. When I was about to play volleyball, he left to go swimming. I don't really understand why he doesn't want to be around me. I mean, I didn't do anything...

Along with talking to Sean and seeing his hot self at the beach (shirtless!), our team did great at State. Not only do we have seven State Champions on our team, but we also placed really well. The boys won State and the girls got second. We lost by TWO points. Just two. By the last race we were tied for first with another team and we unfortunately lost. We started at a really good lead with the 4x400 relay. But by the third runner we lost our lead and our fourth runner couldn't catch us up. I'm not disappointed though. We all ran our best and most of us ran a personal record! I normally run a 400 in 60-61 seconds but on Saturday I ran it in 59 seconds! Seconds mean a lot in track so when I ran it in 59 seconds I was beyond excited! That has been my goal all year and I reached it!

In all the trip was amazing. Probably the best I've ever been on. I became closer friends with some people, made new friends with others, and just had a great time--period! I cannot wait for next year's track season to begin because I'm still on a high from this past weekend.

My Bucket List (Part 1)

I've been thinking about it for a long time now and I decided I'd post my bucket list. I think I will do this frequently until I can't think of anything else I want to do with my life. It's just another way for you to get to know me.

Travel to at least 15 of the 50 states.

A Person of Interest

I was invited by my coaches to travel to South Carolina for the 19th Annual Taco Bell Classic Track Meet. It's one of the nation's biggest track meets so of course I was excited to go!
We drove in a charter bus for about 6-7 hours until we got to SC and checked into our hotels.

The meet was on Friday and finals were on Saturday. I competed both days but didn't place for any of them. I made some personal records, so my times were good, but it was a super competitive meet.

Anyway, on Friday, after we competed in the trials, we went back to our hotel rooms for the night. The girls and boys stayed in the same hotel so it wasn't hard to sneak boys into our room. So guess who came to our room? Yep, Derek and his friend. Sabrina was one of my roommates and it surprised me how comfortable I was.

www.losangelesbuscharter.com
Derek and I are slowly becoming friends and Sabrina and I have gone past the whole make out thing. I think I have grown to realize I cannot have every guy I want and I just need to wait for the right one to come along. If Derek makes Sabrina happy--it's whatever, really. We just hung out for a couple hours, just having fun and joking around. It was a really amazing night.

www.urbancentriconline.com
Now, for the best part of the story; the bus ride home. We competed Saturday then made our way back home. I fell asleep for about an hour and woke up to Sabrina and Sean (a guy on my track team that I have the hots for) sitting next to me. I was about to die when I realized it was him. He is beyond sexy and has an amazing personality! I don't know how it happened but we just started talking and kept talking for a good 2 or 3 hours, maybe more. We talked about pet peeves, obsessions, ourselves, each other, even past relationships. The most random of things--we talked about. We joked around, laughed, and just had fun!
I can tell you one thing, Sean is one of the nicest, sweetest, funniest guys I know.

I wish I could tell you more about him, but that was literally the most I have ever talked to him. We really didn't know each other until then.

Now I'm trying this new thing where I crush on a guy and take it slow. I don't want to end up falling for him and then getting my heart broken like I did with Derek. I need to give it time and let nature take it's course.

If someone told me that Sean and I would become friends this weekend, I wouldn't believe it. But it happened, and I love it!

A Day In The Life of Minty

flickr.com
I really don't have anything to post about, but I miss posting. Now that I have a little time I think I'll walk you through my day.

Today was boring ole' "picture day" at school. At my school, they never tell us anything. We could be having yearbook pictures made and they literally tell us two class periods before we take our pictures.
So if you needed to get a hair cut, or get your hair done, or possibly do your makeup--forget it!

After pictures, we had to go to P.E. Now, I'm not sure if I've mentioned my PE teacher or not, but she's insane. She treats us as if we are in some boot camp. She'll walk in and be like "get in your lines, 15 pushups, 15 jumping jacks, 40 sit ups, and a five minute run!!"

Like, what the h#ll do you think you're doing here? If I was training for some sort of marathon, sure, I'll do it. But this is PE. Stop taking your job so d@mn serious.

And I honestly don't know why I refuse to type out the cuss words. It just doesn't seem right or something...anyway, after PE was lunch. Like normal I sit with my friends including Sabrina and Eva. Nothing different today.

I was supposed to go to a track meet today, but since I'm injured I decided I'll skip the JV meet and hopefully go to the Varsity meet Friday-Saturday.

Hmm...what else? I had math as my last period. My math teacher is a whole different story which I'll make a separate post about later.
He's got a really nice ass. So that's the highlight of that class period. Anytime he turns around to write on the board. My eyes shift down. Can't help it if he has a baseball player's butt.

So in all, it was a pretty normal day. Nothing special happened, nothing exciting.

Oh wait, did I tell you my friend Eva broke up with Jackass? I'll explain later.

30 Days Challenge- Day 22

15 facts about you.

I really don't know anything that you all don't already know, but I'll try.

  1. I do not like open doors or windows. It bothers me and I cannot sleep until I know for a fact all doors and windows that are around me are closed.
  2. I hate sitting in the passengers seat in cars. The front is just such an easy way to fly out the window and get killed.
  3. I get very specific about my food. It has to be cooked a certain way for a certain amount of time and it has to come out with the perfect texture. Otherwise I cannot enjoy it.
  4. I love to go "commando". Feels great.
  5. I have the messiest bed you will ever see. It's so messy I can't even sleep on it.
  6. I'm very religious, but I just do not like going to church every single week. Weird but true.
  7. I fall for the guys that are the complete opposite of me.
  8. I have a crush on someone but I don't want to.
  9. I get upset when I fall behind. I hate making up school work or having to watch my favorite shows on Hulu.
  10. I'm black and proud!
  11. I'm what people call an "oreo" because apparently I do not "act black". Whatever the hell that means.
  12. I only cuss when I type or in my head. I don't cuss out loud. Not because I think it's wrong, I just don't do it.
  13. I would rather die a virgin than a slut.
  14. I think natural is always the way to go. No matter what.
  15. There is not one thing I like about Ke$ha.
So, there you go!
Hopefully you learned 15 things about me that you didn't know before.

And also, I apologize for slacking on the 30 Days Challenge. I'm trying to catch up now.

30 Days Challenge- Day 8

3 words to match your personality.

Fun, Open-Minded, Truthful.

I wish I could choose more, but these three are the best that I could think of.

I'd say I was fun because I love to have a good time, I love to laugh, and I'm so random all the time.

Open-Minded because I am literally open to anything that isn't ignorant, stupid, totally immature, discriminative or completely negative. It sounds like a lot but I'm open to a lot of things others are close-minded about. Such as gays.

I would say truthful because I like to be upfront about things. Yes, I lie like every other person, but for things that are more important, with more value, or to people like family and friends, I try to be as truthful as possible.

Feeling Good

(This is an old post back from Dec. 30th that I never got around to posting. But I haven't been posting very often, so here ya' go.)

I just got done reading a truly touching blog today.
Here's the link for anyone interested.

The thing that really got me is that this woman has two sons, and both have a disorder called Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Everyday is a new day of worries for her. She doesn't know what to expect or what things will happen.

She can only hope for the best.

Now I know I'm only 15, so why am I worried right?
It's not that I'm afraid of having a child with a disorder, it's that I see how hard of a life she has.
Yet she remains positive, hopes for the best, and makes the best out of her situation.

I have problems in my life, just like everyone else.
And if you've been reading my blog for a while, or you've seen some past posts, you'll know that I'm not good at dealing with my problems.

But I should feel lucky. I should be more grateful and happy with the way my life is.
Because it could have been way worse than it is now.

I always think to myself "I shouldn't have to live this way, no other girl my age lives this way"

But that's not true, and even if it is, this is my life. It doesn't have to be like everyone else's.

I need to accept that my life isn't perfect.

I hope that one day I can look back and think
"Wow, I can't believe I got through that...look at me now."

My Worst Self

credit: Getty images
My day was absolutely dreadful. It's not like the teachers slammed a lot of work at us, it's that I had to go to school after such a lovely Winter Break.

Waking up so early and having no time for breakfast really wears me out. Not to mention the eight hours of school and the annoying ride back from the bus.

Here's a regular school day for me (estimated times):

6:00 AM: (Alarm goes off) Drag myself out of bed.
6:05-6:25 AM: Wash my face, brush my teeth, take a shower.
6:25-6:35 AM: Apply lotion/other moisturizers, get dressed.
6:35-7:00 AM: Style hair, do makeup.
7:00-7:15 AM: Do a few last minute things.
7:15-7:25 AM: See if I can find something to eat in time, otherwise known as breakfast.
7:25 AM: Leave for bus stop.
7:30ish-8:05 AM: Bus picks me up, stop by other kid's stops, drive to school.
8:05 AM-3:28 PM: learning, walking around campus, eating horrible lunch, etc., A.K.A School.
3:28-3:50ish PM: Ride bus home, walk to house.
3:50-8:00 PM: Watch T.V., Eat, Enjoy my day.
8:00-10:00 PM: Do homework (if any).
10:00-11:00 PM: Enjoy my night, go to bed.
11:00 PM-6:00 AM:  Sleep.
6:00 AM: Start over.

5 days a week, every week.
This can get tiring. For everyone saying I should be grateful to even get an education, yes I know. I am.
But I'm still annoyed, frustrated and tired by school days and I think I always will be.

Anyway, I hope I didn't bore you too much. But now you know exactly what I do five days of my normal week.

Celebrity
I wouldn't be Minty if I didn't mention Shemar Moore at least once a month on my blog. All this year I have gone on and on about his sexy body and his amazing acting skills. I hate to be one of those girls who gets obsessed with a celebrity, but when it comes to Shemar Moore, I can't help it.

Kate Voegele singing "Hallelujah" almost made me cry. Her voice is so beautiful, so breathtaking. She hits every note just right. I used to come home from school everyday and the first thing I did was listen to this song. It's just so amazing.

My Best Moments of 2010

This year has gone by so fast. I can't believe it's about to be 2011!

It makes me go back to all the good times I had in 2010. All the wonderful things I was blessed with and got the opportunity to have. I want to share my first one with you...

Losing my house.
I really don't think I blogged about this, as I lost my house before I made this blog.

Losing my house was one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with in my life. I was incredibly upset and shocked that we could no longer live in the place I called home. It's a feeling I never want to feel again.
You may ask "Why is this one of your best moments then?".
Well, it made me realize how blessed I am. It also lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.

Many people would look at this as a bad moment, but a little part of me is glad it happened. I sometimes look at this in the wrong way and I get angry that my life has turned out this way. When I lived in my old house, I was always worried. Always scared. I was always anxious about the day that we would just not be able to afford it anymore. When we'd have to give it up.
I never wanted to be in a position where I was homeless. That scared me more than anything.

When we finally left the house, I was worry free. I slept better than I had ever slept in five years.  I woke up with a feeling of freedom. Like I never had to worry about a thing ever again.
It made me cry to think about how horrible I felt when I was at that house. Now, I can live a great, peaceful life.

It made me stronger, happier, it made me a better person. I know realize how lucky I am. Now I can start over and make something good out of what has happened.

I'll never forget my old house, but this move, this step-up in life, will forever be one of the best moments of my life.

Why My Bestfriend's Parents Wouldnt Allow Me to See Her

deviantart.net
I'm just now realizing that I never made a post about why Eva's parent forbade me from seeing her. (To read my post from when I first learned that I wasn't to see Eva, click here, then come back and read this)
Well, she finally told me why.

Apparently I'm not "appreciative" of what they "do for me."
That whenever we got out I expect them to buy me things and pay for my movie tickets or drive me anywhere Eva and I go. And then after all that I'm not grateful enough.

I really don't even know what to say about that.
When Eva told me all this, all I said was that I had been friends with her for more than five years, I didn't think I had to still say "Thank you Ma'am", or "I appreciate it Sir".

To be honest, I don't care what they think is going on.
I know that whenever we go out, I buy my own tickets, I say "thank you" once I've been dropped off. I appreciate all they do for me whether I show it or not.

But if they want to assume shit like that, let them.

I have bigger problems in my life and this doesn't mean I'm losing Eva as a friend so why bother?
